In conjunction with ‘Aliran Semasa {Rearview Forward}Confluence and
Branching of Media Technology in Recent Malaysian Art’ a week long
project initiated by the Networking and Education Department of the
National Visual Art Gallery in collaboration with academic institutions
(MIA, MMU and USM), a panel discussion was held at the E-Theater at FCM
on June 25th 2013.

Titled ‘Media + Education’, the speakers were Assistant Professor
Niranjan Rajah from the School of Interactive Arts and Technology, Simon
Fraser University, Associate Professor Hasnul Saidon of School of the
Arts, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Mr Roopesh Sitharan, a FCM alumni
and currently PhD researcher and tutor at the Goldsmiths College,
University of London.

The panel was hosted by YM Tengku Sabri, head of the Humanities
Department, FCM and shared their journeys and thoughts as artists,
thinkers and educators, and on the need and relevance for a critical and
creative engagement for Media education in this globalized contemporary
age.

On June 27th Thursday, students and faculty members of FCM attended
another forum under this project at the National Visual Art Gallery.
Speakers were Professor Wan Zawawi Ibrahim of Faculty of Arts & Social
Sciences, Univeriti Brunei Darussalam, Assistant Professor Niranjan
Rajah, Mr Roopesh Sitharan and Mr Yap Sau Bin of FCM, MMU.
