MMU is taking student development up some notches!
Nurturing Holistic Excellence via Activities Initiative
In light of various distinguished academic and extra-curricular performances shown by MMU students at both the national and international levels, MMU is taking the initiative of bringing more activities to its students. The activities serves as a means of uncovering and drawing forth students’ innate qualities, which would be transformed into soft skills that students may apply to development of their future career.
As many are aware, MMU is one of the best Malaysian universities to graduate from, due to how well the industry accepts MMU graduates. MMU graduates are so sought-after that, among some multinational corporations (MNCs), there are almost entire departments staffed by MMU graduates. MMU graduates are in demand not just for their technical expertise, but also for their relative maturity and well-developed soft skills.
In continuing this success, MMU would be emphasising in Nurturing Holistic Excellence via Activities Initiative. This effort seeks to enable all MMU students – both undergraduate and postgraduate – to organise and participate in more impactful events at local and international level. MMU’s management, in presenting the idea to the Student Representative Council, has found that the student leaders are in support of this initiative.
MMU further envisions complementing increased activities with the establishment of several purpose-driven centres; Talent Excellence Centre (TEC) in Melaka Campus and Career Connect Centre in Cyberjaya Campus, which will be launched soon. They would serve as one-stop career centres, not only providing employers with a central location to list their human resources needs, but also with the expertise to provide coaching expertise in various topics as required by the industries. This is just a few among the initiatives that the university is currently commissioning beside many more, which are in the pipeline.
As such, to bring more activities to more students, MMU is undertaking a revision to the Student Activities Fee (SAF), which will take effect in July 2019. The revised fee is RM200 for each long semester – July and November – and RM100 for the short semester in April. With the revised SAF, the students can expect to have more and impactful activities at your disposal. It is our sincere hope that students would make the best of this facility, and make their time at MMU one of the best moments of their life.
