Master by Taught Courses at Knowledge Management Centre (KMC)

Knowledge Management Centre (KMC) located at K-Space of Multimedia University (at Faculty of Creative Multimedia) offers TWO master by taught courses. They are introduced as below:

Master of Knowledge Management (with Multimedia)
Programme Objective:

To develop experts who have the capability of performing and implementing Knowledge Management within industries, organizations, and society. 
Learning Outcomes
Ability to identify basic tactical components in the development of Knowledge Management applications, strategies, processes and economic evaluations on the effectiveness of KM. Related subjects: KM Application, Strategic KM I, Strategic KM II, and k-Project Management.These subjects will describe and discuss the essential means and methods in developing and implementing Knowledge Management system and initiatives.
Ability to define and utilize the relationship between the concepts of management, communication and learning processes, with Knowledge Management. Related subjects: Human Communication & Knowledge Management, History & Concepts of KM, and Organizational Learning.The subjects will describe the importance of the relationship between the concept of Knowledge Management, with the elements of organizational communication, the historical evaluation of KM in the context of corporate and institutional management, and also with the learning process at an individual, group and management level within an organization.
Ability to identify and apply related multimedia and ICT applications in the area of KM as a means of disseminating and sharing of valuable knowledge, in addition to the capability to supervise and manage KM system related tasks.  Related subjects:Multimedia & IT, Interactive Multimedia Development, Multimedia Programming, and Web Programming.The subjects will provide students with the essential elements of multimedia and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which have a high relevancy with KM. All the terms, tools as well as process and design will be exposed to the students for them to develop the necessary skills and ability. 
Ability to analyze and designing a database system where data and information can be creatively manipulated in the process of knowledge creation, and discover the benefits of it in the enhancement of electronic industries.  Related subjects:Database System & System Analysis/Design, and e-KM.These subjects will introduce and discuss aspects of database systems, and provide the students with concepts and skills needed to analyze and design information systems. Students will also gain a practical guide to the use of KM in the existing multiple electronic environments.
Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of research and development principles and procedures, which deals with both the theoretical and practical aspects of academic research including quantitative and qualitative methods, through an individual research project.  Related subjects:Research Method and ProjectThe subject will challenge students in their ability to carry out a research, application or case study project under the supervision of an academic staff member. The topic or research questions will be formulated by the student and approved by the supervisor. Students will need to complete an individual research project which should reflect their understanding of the current philosophy of research and the implications for research activity.

Master of Multimedia (E-Learning Technologies) (by taught courses)

Students undertaking this course will discover the possibilities of new technologies for innovative learning and become familiar with the structures, functions and dynamics of a variety of e-learning systems.

Programme Objective: To develop experts in an e-Learning environment as an effective force in education and training, having the capability of developing multimedia and Internet-based Instructional Design to meet individual learner needs and core learning goals.

Learning Outcomes
To become thoroughly conversant with the concepts and principals of learning theories, psychological principles, and then apply them when designing instruction. Related subjects: Learning Theories & Strategies, Educational Psychology, and Instructional System Design.These subjects will introduce students to the various facets of the application of computers to the teaching and learning process, and discuss the foundations of instructional systems design, relevant learning theories and also psychological principles. 
Ability to effectively evaluate the multimedia instructional products.  Related subjects: Evaluation Methodology for e-Learning.The subjects will cover the different aspects of quality evaluation of educational multimedia products, from both cognitive and technical standpoints.
Ability to develop and administer an interactive multimedia courseware that is appropriate for education and training, in the e-learning environment.  Related subjects:Principles of Multimedia in Education Technology, Digital Media Content Development, and Interactive Instructional Multimedia Development.The subjects will cover the elements of multimedia, software, interactive courseware, and the whole process in the development of multimedia courseware related to educational technology.
Ability to produce and supervise the development of web pages with web-based content for educational purposes. Related subjects:Web Publishing for e-Learning, and Web Programming.These subjects will instruct the use of effective Web programming languages, necessary skills in developing applications for the web, and develop an understanding of the issues related to publishing web-based content for educational purposes.
Ability to understand and administer computer networks and database systems and recognize their integral role in e-learning technologies. Related subjects:Computer Networks & Database Administration.The subject will explore types of computer database, examine theoretical and pragmatic ideas underlying relational databases, and discuss the administration of database systems.
Ability to define the relation and link between the concept of e-Learning with other important related areas such as Human Performance Technology (HPT), Knowledge Management application, and also the skills in managing projects in contemporary environments.Related subjects: Human Performance Technology, Concept and Applications of KM, and Project Management.These subjects will describe the importance of the relationship between the concept of e-Learning with the fundamentals of Human Performance Technology that aim to improve performance in the learning process, the development of specific KM application related to e-Learning, and also will provide a guidance on how to effectively manage a certain project thru an understanding of the techniques in project management.
Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of research and development principles and procedures, which deals with both the theoretical and practical aspects of academic research including quantitative and qualitative methods, through an individual research project.

Master of Multimedia (E-learning Technologies) in Multimedia University has been developed to equip current and future employees on the creation and delivery of information, communication, education and training through various information communication technology tools. Aside from content creation and delivery of information, this program focuses on knowledge and skills on human and visual communication, project management, creativity and multimedia design.

Benefit of the Programme

The course provides students with integration of skills and knowledge in various area including multimedia, instructional theory and models,  design and creativity and project management. The course also provides students with a teaching and learning approaches that could enhance students’ self-confidence, motivation, problem solving skills and communication skills. Thus students who are pursuing this course has the opportunity to develop both academic and personal skills.

Master of Multimedia (E-learning Technologies) aims at equipping students with skills and knowledge in creative content creation and development of interactive multimedia applications to serve the need of the nation in e-learning development.
