Academic Advisory System

Introduction:
1. The responsibility of an academic advisor is to promote students’ sense of responsibility, commitment to the pursuit of intellectual foundations, disciplinary competence, academic success and career advancement awareness. A major intent of academic advising is to challenge and encourage students to participate in, and to thrive in MMU campus and Cyberjaya communities and beyond.2. Good academic advising can help students bridge the gaps between personal, academic and career requirements. Supported by good advising, students will clarify, plan, implement and monitor a programme of study consistent with their values, goals, interests, and abilities. This will lead to success and satisfaction in their personal, academic and career lives.Advising Policy:

1. All new students must receive academic advising upon admission to University. During or after orientation, new students should meet with their academic advisors to learn about university and faculty requirements, discuss their academic plans and select courses.2. Upon admission to an engineering programme, every student is to meet his/her academic advisor to adopt a study programme/plan his academic career. During this session, advisors and students should:

Evaluate student’s suitability in the chosen programme.
Review degree requirements, special options and possible electives.
Identify any deficiencies in student’s record and propose ways to correct them.
Discuss career opportunities and undergraduate scholarships.
