Virtual Reality Student Won “Grand Prize Award” at South East Asia Game Jam Level Up 2019

We are proud to announce that our student Fikri Suhaimi from the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM) Virtual Reality won the grand prize award/ best game for SEA Game Jam Level Up 2019. A game jam project “Pix It First” has been developed during a 36-hour game jam duration. It is a multiplayer game with the goal to guessing correctly a pixelated image, during each round, image become less pixelated every 5 seconds. The players will be awarded with a point for guessing correctly and it first come first serve. SEA game jam is organized by LEVEL UP where game developers from all over the South East Asia region work together to create games in a collaborative environment based on a theme!

Meanwhile, “Chandu VR: Tribute to Malay Regiment”, a virtual reality game project from FCM’s second year students namely Adnan Jazlan, Caleb Yong, Amer Faiz and Amirul Afiq, nominated as top 3 finalist for the best student game for South East Asia Game Awards from the total entries of more than 90 game project submissions. The Best Student Game Award recognizes the overall best game developed by student(s) from the Southeast Asia region including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietman, etc. The
game is reflects upon the heroic story of Leftenan Adnan who fought Japanese Occupation during World War II in 1942.

SEA Game Jam and Awards 2019 are organized by Level Up, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation Sdn Bhd. The venue take place at Bangsar South and KLCC from 6th to 10th November 2019. The event and awards aim to recognize and celebrate the outstanding creativity, artistry and technical genius of the finest developers and games from around this region in addition to upholding creative and technical excellence in the Southeast Asian video game industry!
