How To Move The House

HOW TO MOVE THE HOUSE is the latest iteration of the Growing Manual project. The title of the project is not only the name, but also a question, proposition and a provocation. We invite collectives/individuals to converse with one another. This invitation comes with the kind of urgency and instability that characterises movements of people and ideas of collectivism today and in turn shaping our work in terms of questions of site and context. The project is framed based on the act of Gotong-royong or collective work, a common concept of sociality in Southeast Asia. We invite 6 Korean practitioners (artists, curator, educator, architect, critic) to respond to this idea as an arc that moves from the practical to the discursive and vice versa. We have extended this idea to various contributors based in Malaysia: CHUA Shu Ruei, Daryl Hayden GOH, LAM Shaun Hui, LEE Cheah Ni, Kok Yoong LIM, Okui Lala, NG Yi Kee, Roopesh Sitharan, SIM Hoi Ling, Suzy Sulaiman, WEE Jia Foong, Saubin YAP. The project is a 2 weeks camp (7 December to 19 December 2018), structured around a proposed context-specific the faculty of Creative Multimedia, Multimedia University in Cyberjaya.
