The artists-run DIY festival of experimental cinema, the Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film & Video Festival (KLEX) is back with its third edition, “KLEX 2012: DEFRAMED”! We’ll kick off KLEX 2012 with five experimental audio-visual performances by local and international talents in experimental video, music and performance on the opening night. Come join the opening night with exhilarating experimentation in visuals, sound, noise and improvisation!

KLEX 2012 has received over 260 submissions from the open call, including works from Croatia, France, Indonesia, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Thailand, UK, USA and more. The curatorial committee has selected 38 short works to create 4 KLEX programmes: Aperture, Stutter, Syntax and After Image.

The festival also features programmes from guest curators, including a programme curated by Hasnul J. Saidon, featuring works from the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Video Art Collection. 5 International programmes will be presented by our international guests in person, Mary Pansanga from Thailand, Michael Brynntrup from Germany, and Richard Tuohy from Australia. Richard will conduct two rare 16mm hand-processing film workshops for the Malaysian students and film enthusiasts.
