The Faculty of Creative Multimedia is a festival partner of KLEX 2013

The 4th Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film & Video Festival (KLEX 2013) will take place on 22-24th November, at The Annexe Gallery, Central Market. It’ll include 7 screening programmes, Q&A sessions with guest artists and curators and audio-visual performances.

KLEX 2013 has received over 150 local and international submissions from the open call, including works from Europe, Asia and America. From these submissions, the curatorial team has created 3 KLEX Open Programmes.

Aside from the KLEX Programmes, KLEX 2013 also features guest programmes from the Germany-France, Thailand, and Japan-ASEAN. All curators and/or representatives of the guest programmes will attend the festival in person. Besides, the artists from The Korea Society of Media and Arts (KOSMA) will be showing their works as part of KLEX programmes and attending the festival.

KLEX is known not only for its experimental video programmes but also its edgy performance programmes of sight and sound. This year, the line-up for audio-visual performances include Black Zenith, HKPT, Game of Patience (feat. Brian O’Reilly Darren Moore & Yong Yandsen), Chong Keat Aun, Yii Kah Hoe, Goh Lee Kwang, Wong Eng Leong and more.

Finally, a few artist workshops will be conducted, including exclusive film workshops by Dieter Wieczorek (Germany-France) for students at New Era University College and Multimedia University. Canadian sound artist & scholar, Prof. Andra McCartney, will conduct a soundwalk workshop that is open to the public. This soundwalk will include a group walk, reflective discussions, and individual or small group walks throughout the historical Jalan Sultan area. The walking route is designed and guided by local performance artist and cultural activist Chong Keat Aun.
