Zubaida Nila, an FCM postgraduate student was among the 21 shortlisted women who took part in a paid six-week virtual in-depth training and mentoring program on real-time animation production. Aimed at empowering women creators in India and Southeast Asia, The Women Creator’s Programme, initiated by Epic Games in partnership with Open Air Films, ASIFA India and Perforce Software received 178 applications from the two subcontinents, and Zubaida, a visual effect artist was among those who made the cut.
Upon completing the training, the participants showcased their short films and shared their journeys throughout the event. Zubaida aspired to enhance her lighting, post-process, and FX skills with the evolving features of Unreal Engine 5 to create cinematic-ready content for ICVFX (in-camera visual effects) for films and commercials.
Through the program, she was able to experiment and acquire valuable skills and knowledge from experts and industry mentors. Zubaida states, “The programme is a great incubator to encourage more women to develop the industry technical skillsets and strengthen female representation in the VFX & Virtual Production field.” Zubaida is a student in MSc Creative Multimedia in FCM, and her research focuses on VR and XR in Visual Effects for Virtual Production.
