Enculturating Creative Minds via e-Mobility Programme 2020

A total of 75 students from 18 countries partook in the closing ceremony of the MMU 2020 International Student e-Mobility Programme on Enculturating Creative Minds, held on 10 July 2020.

The 2-week programme is the first time ever held virtually and has successfully unleashed the sense of culture and creativity for seamless learning among participants. The Faculty of Applied Communication and Faculty of Creative Multimedia took the lead in organising this event with the support from the International Relations Office.

The virtual mobility programme offered participants the sneak peak at cultural diversities & experiences, enriching knowledge sharing sessions and the interesting Up & Close on photography with Chemat Azhar, MMU lecturer who is one of the 30 most influential photographers in Asia. There was a showcase of their photography works as an e-gallery and participants presented their grand finale with their group cultural projects.

Invited guests from Education Malaysia Beijing, Education Malaysia Dubai, and partner universities in the UK, Riyadh, Indonesia and Philippines made time to be with the participants in this virtual closing ceremony.

Tekno Daie course 2020

Tekno Daie course 2020

A total of 21 Daie Muda trainees of Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (DMY) have completed the five-day Tekno Daie course at Multimedia University (MMU) here.

The course was organized by Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) in collaboration with MMU (Faculty of Creative Multimedia) and TV Al Hijrah starting from 22 June to 26 June 2020, aims to produce young preachers who are skilled in creating and publishing videos.

In the closing ceremony on June 26, Yang Dipertua YADIM, Yang Berusaha Ustaz Nik Omar Nik Ab Aziz when speaking called on the DMY trainees to use the knowledge that has been learned in the path of da’wah.

“Use the knowledge gained for the good of those around us, spread and teach our knowledge to the public, especially in an environment that is now highly dependent on technology,” he said.

Also present at the closing ceremony of this course were YADIM Senior Director of Training and Cadre Sector, Captain (B) Shamsuddin Moner, Assistant Al Hijrah TV Producer, Fazlah Jani Mohamad, Course Director who is also a lecturer at MMU, Muhammad Syahmi Abdul Aziz and DMY Chief Coordinator, Khusnaini Mongin.

In the meantime, said Nik Omar, YADIM is seriously looking at the need to make this course at MMU as a regular training held every year for DMY trainees.

The proposal was welcomed by Mr. Syahmi who said, MMU is ready to work again with YADIM to train young preachers with the skills needed.

“We are happy with this cooperation, maybe next year we can improve the course by including design study elements for example, or extend the duration of the course,” he said.

This video publishing course is one of the mandatory modules in DMY training which aims to produce techno daie that utilize technology in preaching.

The modules that were included in this course were creative advertising, story board sketches (story board), green screen technology, studio recording, script writing and so on.
