FCM would like to congratulate our Dean, Ts. Dr. Lim Kok Yoong for his participation in the recent exhibition at Museum MACAN (Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara), West Jakarta, Indonesia.

The exhibition looks at contemporary art in Southeast Asia through small narratives told by eight artists. Ts. Dr. Lim Kok Yoong was invited as a Malaysian media artist to exhibit an installation work titled: Licensed to Wait in this international museum of contemporary art. The Museum MACAN has provided a setting for this productive exchange ever since his work was first exhibited in United Kingdom in 2005.

This exhibition relooks at Kok Yoong’s work through the lens of the Global Pandemic. Below is the artist statement

The video is a reflection of the state of water in Malaysia in 2020. While the country is fighting the global pandemic of COVID-19 that is spread through respiratory fluid, the livelihood of Malaysian is also disrupted by recurring water crisis such as water cut, water pollution and flood. The year 2020 was supposed to be celebration of sorts for Malaysia, a vision that should herald the nation’s entry into the developed world. But Malaysia did not get to celebrate her Vision 2020; instead she endures ‘Delusion 2020’. The country is slipping into ranks of failed states with political instability and corruption – the sorry reality. When I was a kid I enjoyed watching the water flow and drips and how they trace their tracks and seeped into the grounds and others openings, and get carried into the oceans and I would imagine them returning to the atmosphere. The endless loop of water cycle is to me a cyclicality of life, matter and existence. This video projection is a way to access this flow by turning the water footages that I have collected into a water mantra reverberating a sound current inside the human body of water, calming our anxious mind in this traumatic year.

Another win for FCM as one of our excellent academician Mdm. Heidi Tan did the faculty proud (again and again!) by winning the Best Presenter Award (Digital & Innovative Education Track) in the recent COMDITE2021.

The 2nd Conference on Managing Digital Industry, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CoMDITE) is co-organized by Faculty of Management, Multimedia University and School of Economic and Business, Telkom University. This conference, CoMDITE 2021, was held virtually on 7 and 8 April 2021.

Congratulations to our excellent academics, Dr. Roopesh Sitharan & Dr. Mohd Hafizuddin Mohd Yusof for winning the Rising Star Award category of ASM Artscience™ Prize.

The Prize is awarded to outstanding talent and works of art that embody the union of art and science. It is the first ever to be established in Malaysia to celebrate the nascent community of artist-scientists that shows promising growth and development.

Recipient with the highest potential for growth was selected as the winner of Rising Star Award category.

We are pleased to share that one of our esteemed academic, Dr. Tenku Putri Norishah Tenku Shariman, has been appointed as a member of the Islamic Affairs Development Advisory Panel, recently. The letter was signed by Yang Berhormat Senator Datuk Dr. Zulkifli Mohammad Al-Bakri, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs). Dr. Tenku Putri will offer her support and advisories to all agencies under the Ministry through her extensive experience in academic as well as research.

Another achievement from our alumni! Bengkel Teknologi Senior, a project lead by Dr. Tan Yun Yi, has been selected as one of the recipients of this year’s Star Golden Hearts Award alongside nine awe-inspiring winners. Well done!

The workshop that was kick started at FCM in 2019 aims to assist the elderly to familiarize themselves with technology.

Dr. Tan Yun Yi, graduated with Bachelor of Multimedia (hons) in Digital Media, class of 2009.

Our alumni not only are key players in the Art, Design and Multimedia industry, but they are at the forefront in giving back to the community.

Congratulations to our student SITI ARINA BINTI SAHUL HAMEED for winning the 3rd prize (Illustration category) in the Maybank MyTIGER VALUES Art Competition 2020.

Seven entries were also chosen as Finalists. They were all Foundation students from Creative Drawing class under the supervisions of Mr. Rini Fauzan and Mdm Ellyna Hashim.

The shortlisted names were announced in the official Maybank MYTIGER VALUES Art Competition’s Facebook page. Due to COVID19 pandemic, the exhibition can be viewed through Maybank’s Virtual Gallery.
