FCM student’s ‘Unforgettable Memories’ shortlisted for Sony World Photography Awards

KUALA LUMPUR: A photograph taken by a Malaysian student during a family trip to Malacca has been shortlisted for the world’s largest photography competition. Nursyafiqah Azlan’s photograph, titled “Unforgettable Memories”, was submitted for the Student Focus competition of the 2017 Sony World Photography Awards. The image shows Nursyafiqah’s grandmother being reunited with her youngest grandchild, while the joy and sorrow of her life journey are rendered as framed photographs on the wall. “Unforgettable Memories” was one of only 10 selected by a panel of judges looking for the best single image answering the brief, Memories. Entries were submitted by students from more than 300 institutions worldwide. FCM students won 1 Gold, 2 Silvers, 1 Bronze and 1 Finalist award at the recent award ceremony of The sCoolers 2016, held at MAP@Publika on 24 February 2017. The inaugural creative competition, organized specifically for students in Malaysia was judged by professionals from the creative industry, such as Mr. Alvin Teoh (Executive Creative Director of Naga DDB), Mr. Saád Hussein (Creative Chairman & Executive Director of TBWA\Group Malaysia, Mr. Hassan Muthalib (artist, designer &filmmaker) and many more. The competition saw close to 300 entries from all over Malaysia competing in the 24 categories contested. However, though the hardware is ready and available, there is still a lack of content for these VR platforms. Therein lies the opportunity for content developers to jump in early and conquer this relative greenfield.
