#WhereAreTheyNow?

Muhammad Tamim Faruq Khairul 'Azmi

Meet Muhammad Tamim Faruq Bin Khairul ‘Azmi also known as Mr.TAMIM, who graduated with Bachelor of Multimedia (Hons) in Advertising Design class of 2019. He started his streaming career in November 2018 before joining the first batch in July this year as Facebook Partner. Unlike most streamers, Tamim broadcasts himself playing an online virtual cycling simulator named Zwift, converting his bike into a cycling simulator device and riding indoors. “I get to combine three things I love into one: cycling, gaming and streaming.” On top of staying fit and healthy (“I lost 11kg by doing this daily in three to four months!”), he has fun streaming and interacting with his viewers, even inspiring them to take up cycling themselves.

Regardless of what you studied, when you graduated, or where your path has taken you, your years at FCM makes you a part of our honorable alumni community.

FCM’s Dean exhibits his installation work at MACAN, Jakarta

FCM’s Dean exhibits his installation work at MACAN, Jakarta

FCM would like to congratulate our Dean, Ts. Dr. Lim Kok Yoong for his participation in the recent exhibition at Museum MACAN (Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara), West Jakarta, Indonesia.

The exhibition looks at contemporary art in Southeast Asia through small narratives told by eight artists. Ts. Dr. Lim Kok Yoong was invited as a Malaysian media artist to exhibit an installation work titled: Licensed to Wait in this international museum of contemporary art. The Museum MACAN has provided a setting for this productive exchange ever since his work was first exhibited in United Kingdom in 2005.

This exhibition relooks at Kok Yoong’s work through the lens of the Global Pandemic. Below is the artist statement

The video is a reflection of the state of water in Malaysia in 2020. While the country is fighting the global pandemic of COVID-19 that is spread through respiratory fluid, the livelihood of Malaysian is also disrupted by recurring water crisis such as water cut, water pollution and flood. The year 2020 was supposed to be celebration of sorts for Malaysia, a vision that should herald the nation’s entry into the developed world. But Malaysia did not get to celebrate her Vision 2020; instead she endures ‘Delusion 2020’. The country is slipping into ranks of failed states with political instability and corruption – the sorry reality. When I was a kid I enjoyed watching the water flow and drips and how they trace their tracks and seeped into the grounds and others openings, and get carried into the oceans and I would imagine them returning to the atmosphere. The endless loop of water cycle is to me a cyclicality of life, matter and existence. This video projection is a way to access this flow by turning the water footages that I have collected into a water mantra reverberating a sound current inside the human body of water, calming our anxious mind in this traumatic year.
